阐述控制论基本思想的名著，全名为《控制论或关于在动物和机器中控制和通信的科学》，N.维纳著。1948年在美国马萨诸塞州理工学院出版，1961年原书再版时增加了两章新的内容。这部著作对控制论的建立和发展起了重要作用。全书共10章。第 1章通过对牛顿力学的相对性、局限性的分析，把控制论建立在统计理论的基础上。第 2章分析批判了J.W.吉卜斯的古黄典统计力学，阐述了群论和各态历经理论及其在控制系统研究中的应用。第3章讨论时间序列的统计处理问题，提出著名的预测和滤波理论。第4章和第5章结合对反馈系统的稳定性和计算机的记忆、运算以及控制装置特点的分析，讨论神经系统活动的某些机理和病理学的问题。第 6章利用群扫描和多级反馈系统的概念讨论视觉生理的某些问题。第7章结合对电子计算机工作可靠性的讨论，从控制论的观点设想某些精神病理学现象的可能机理。第 8章运用控制论的观点分析社会发展的一些根本问题。第 9章讨论学习和自生殖问题。第10章讨论脑电波和自行组织系统。著者在序言中关于本书诞生过程的历史叙述和对如何发展边缘学科，具有方法论的意义。本书已被译成多种语言出版。第二版中译本于1963年在中国出版。
